Appearance
A little chubby and round-faced, Mihai really looks as awkward as he is. His hair is dark brown and short, always nicely combed and washed. His nose is - unfortunately for him, as he often gets teased about it - rather large and round, and this is only made more prominent by the glasses he wears. Because of his heavy involvement in the school on top of his schoolwork, he's almost always seen in uniform, but no matter how little sleep he's had, his shirt is always ironed and his tie is always straight.
Background
Mihai was mostly raised by his busybody of a mother, which reflects somewhat in his personality. She always pushed him to try new things - whatever it was in fashion for young boys to learn at the time - and when he excelled at none of them, she gradually began to lose interest in ever trying to be proud of him. Regardless, he's very close to her, and she very protective of him. She sheltered him and babied him horribly, and he was home-schooled until his father bullied both he and his mother into agreeing on his attending Second Heaven. Going to school with others his age came as a giant shock to him, and he spent most of his first year very anxiously trying to be loud and talented and in the spotlight to impress all the others. This garnered him more irritation than anything else, and he became bitter rivals with his classmate Eleanor Sridar. Their enmity lasted until about three-quarters through their second year, when it came out that he was (haha no pun intended sorry) gay. Seeing this as a bonding opportunity that won out over their rivalry, he and Eleanor have been fast friends since, though both have the tendency to get a little tight-mouthed if the other outdoes them.
Personality
Most people find Mihai bossy and extremely irritating. He is both of these things, really, but he doesn't realize it. He's very earnest about anything he does, and so will go to great lengths to explain the meaning! of anything he does. This usually makes him come off as extremely pretentious and stuck-up. The pretentious bit is right. Stuck-up... not really. He'll become anxious and a little over-zealous about his own work if it looks as though someone might one-up him, but very rarely puts anyone down because of it (beside himself). Because of the workload he's given himself each year, he's also perpetually high-strung and frequently has small, but quite loud, nervous breakdowns. Usually at fellow students, possibly teachers. He doesn't have anything he's really GOOD at, though he tries *very* hard. Thanks to his effort he does very well in school, though none of his teachers would ever single him out as anything special. He also loves to have authority, and though he's not officially *anything*, he's more or less cheerfully designated himself as Eleanor's stand-in, which earns him quite a lot of :| from her and everyone else who knows it's not really his place.
